Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350℉ and grease a 9x13 or 8x8 pan
  • Melt butter over low heat.
  • Remove butter from heat and combine in a bowl with sugar, eggs and vanilla extract until well combined
  • Stir in cocoa powder, flour, baking powder and salt until the batter is smooth.
  • If you want, stir in walnuts.
  • Spread evenly into the prepared pan
  • Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Allow brownies to cool before serving.

Notes

An 8x8 pan makes the brownies super ooey-gooey and thick, but takes longer to bake.
Use a 9x13 pan for firmer, thinner brownies.
If you don't have walnuts, pecans work just as well.
