Cuisine American
- 1 cup butter
- 2 cups white sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ⅔ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup chopped walnuts (optional)
Preheat oven to 350℉ and grease a 9x13 or 8x8 pan
Melt butter over low heat.
Remove butter from heat and combine in a bowl with sugar, eggs and vanilla extract until well combined
Stir in cocoa powder, flour, baking powder and salt until the batter is smooth.
If you want, stir in walnuts.
Spread evenly into the prepared pan
Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Allow brownies to cool before serving.
An 8x8 pan makes the brownies super ooey-gooey and thick, but takes longer to bake.
Use a 9x13 pan for firmer, thinner brownies.
If you don't have walnuts, pecans work just as well.
